| Nylon Plastics (Polamides) The nylon family of plastics are identified by the number of carbon atoms in the monomers. Where two monomers are involved, the polymer will carry two numbers (e.g. nylon 6 / 6). Crystalline nylons have high tensile strength, flex modulus, impact strength, and abrasive resistance. Several different types of plastic nylon are on the market, the two most widely used being nylon 6 and 6 / 6. General purpose nylon molding materials are available for extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, rotational molding, and (for nylon 6 materials) casting or anionic polymerization. Nylon sheet and film are also marketed. To see Nylon Plastics Available or wanted: Click Here |

They are produced from 1-butene as homopolymers and as copolymers with ethylene. Some of their important characteristics are: excellent resistance to creep at room and elevated temperatures; good toughness (high-impact strength, high tear strength, high puncture resistance); and exceptional resistance to environmental stress cracking. Other important advantages include good moisture barrier properties, excellent electrical insulation characteristics, and resistance to most chemical environments. PBT - Polybutylene terephthalate is sold in the form of filled and reinforced compounds for engineering applications. Its uses include appliances, automotive, electrical / electronic, materials handling, and consumer products. Applications: Most important commercial application for this plastic is in plumbing pipe for residential and commercial use. Large-diameter polybutylene pipe is used for transporting abrasive fluids. The material's abrasion resistance also is put to use in sheet form for vessel and chute linings. To see Polybutylene Plastics Available: Click Here |
